During the past 30 years, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital has grown rapidly from its small, community origins to become one of the leading hospitals in Illinois. On October 11, 1976 the hospital opened its doors, welcoming the first patient. Today Good Samaritan is the only Level I Trauma Center in DuPage County with a licensed capacity of 340 beds, with approximately 900 physicians on staff. Good Samaritan is privileged to provide care to over 19,000 inpatients, 47,000 emergency patients and 120,000 outpatients each year. Just recently, Good Samaritan completed a $45 million state-of-the-art surgical pavilion featuring 50,000 square feet of technology and design innovation-all geared at enhancing an exceptional patient experience. The new surgical pavilion boasts the latest in surgical technology-bringing together strategic operating room layout, lighting, equipment mobility and design integration. With industry-leading technology, the OR viewing room provides opportunities for outreach and education. Good Samaritan Hospital's new surgical pavilion serves as a national leader in the healthcare industry. Fifteen fully integrated operating rooms, 39 pre-op and all private patient recovery rooms, family consultation rooms and a newly dedicated family waiting area provide patients and their families' superior clinical results while providing the comfort for an exceptional patient experience.

Good Samaritan has received a number of prestigious national awards, including being named a Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospital; being recognized with a national Compass Award for providing great customer service; and, being recognized with a Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence Silver Award-The only acute care hospital in DuPage County, and one of only 36 businesses in Illinois, to have ever received such an award.

In an effort to create a total health experience, in 1999, the Health and Wellness Center opened a 90,000 square foot medically based fitness facility, serving the health and fitness needs of DuPage County residents. The Center is staffed with clinical professionals who manage fitness and wellness programs for the surrounding community as well as for those with diseases or health complications.
